Bottom fishing
Bottom fishing or chambel fishing is practiced by fishing with bait on the bottom of the sea with a sinker. It is an easy technique and is usually fished with natural bait such as worm, sardine, squid or shrimp.
Equipment needed for Bottom fishing
For bottom fishing, you will need a simple rod and reel setup or it is even possible to do this fishing technique with just a hand line.
You will also need a sharp hook, a bait suitable for the area you will be fishing and, most importantly, a lead weight used to sink your line to the bottom of the water.
Species caught with Bottom fishing
This technique really has no limitations on the species it can target, as long as they live or feed near the bottom of the sea, river or lake.
Species such as carp, barbel, trout, sturgeon or catfish can be caught in freshwater. In salt water there are a lot of species that are caught on sandy bottoms, reefs or wrecks for example: sea bream, snapper, sea bass, sea bream...
