Depending on the Fishing seasons in Ibiza the Captains will vary the fishing area and their Techniques.
The main species for big game fishing in Ibiza, practiced mainly during the hottest months of the year, are bluefin tuna, imperial marlin and albacore. The swordfish is a very coveted species, but also very difficult to find. Fishing for swordfish in Ibiza often requires several days of patience.
Throughout the year you can go deep fishing for scorpionfish, conger eel, snapper and sea bream. In addition, it is always interesting to put out a live bait to see if there are any amberjack or dentex in the area.
The scorpionfish feeds on fish and crustaceans. It is a very desirable fish for local Anglers. The scorpionfish is usually bottom fished in Ibiza with squid or cut bait in rocky areas (40 meters deep or more).
The best months to fish for llampuga in Ibiza are September and October. This is a voracious species, fished mainly by trolling with small lures and feathers. They are good fighters that can jump during the fight.
Ibiza and the Balearic Islands are one of the most important spawning grounds for this "king of the seas". The best time for tuna fishing in Ibiza is May and June; and from the end of July to the beginning of October. Fishing for tuna in Ibiza is done mainly by trolling or baiting.
Albacore is highly appreciated, both for the fight it offers and for its gastronomic value. Between May and the beginning of August in Ibiza this species is mainly fished by trolling.
The winter months are the best time to fish for swordfish. However, you have to be very patient to be able to hook one.
Bluefin tuna pass through the Ibiza channel, finding their way through the Gulf of Valencia to the Ebro Delta to spawn around the Balearic Islands and the Gulf of Leon. May and June are extraordinary months for giant tuna fishing in Ibiza.
Starting from May until the beginning of August, the famous albacore visit the islands. Trolling offshore is the best way to fish for them.
If you prefer to fish closer to the coast, go bottom fishing to catch sea bream, horse mackerel, sea bream and scorpion fish. Fishing with live squid or jigs on the rocky bottom, there are dentex, grouper and amberjack.
Spinning and light trolling are the main techniques in autumn to fish for small tunas (bluefin tuna, blue whiting, frigate tuna, frigate tuna, frigate tuna, bonito...) and dolphinfish.
Winter fishing in Ibiza is mainly bottom fishing, live fishing or jigging around rocky areas and wrecks.
Besides nightlife and, of course, fishing :-) - Ibiza also offers other activities such as cycling, kite surfing, wine tasting, diving, sailing, hiking and much more.
Visit coastal towns like San Antoni de Portmany, Sant Miquel de Balansat, Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Cala Bassa or Es Cubells.
Culture lovers can dedicate part of their vacation to explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria in Ibiza Town, Ibiza Castle or Sant Rafel Church.
Enjoy the local food in the hundreds of bars and restaurants in Dalt Vila. Try the ensaimada, or a sandwich with sobrasada. Don't miss a grilled Caproig or bullit de peix...
The Fishing license is the administrative document nominal, individual and non-transferable, mandatory, from the age of 14, for the practice of recreational fishing from land (inland and outside waters) or from floating devices such as canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and the like (only in inland waters). It can be obtained on the website of the Gobern de les Illes Balears:
>> Obtain Recreational Surface Fishing License.
Remember that Fishing charters in Ibiza usually already have a collective fishing license so you don't need to buy one if you are going to charter a Boat.
