Marlin Fishing
Fishing for marlin is a fishery that brings together all the ways to fish for this incredible predator. Fishing is mostly trolling using artificial lures or natural bait at a speed of 6 to 10 knots. The marlin is a fierce fighter, so adequate equipment is required to tackle this magnificent fighter.
Equipment needed for Marlin Fishing
The usual way of fishing for marlin is, of course, with a suitable Fishing Boat. You can use natural baits, lures or live baits to target marlin species.
You will also need a strong rod and reel combination, as well as a suitable power line and leader.
Species caught with Marlin Fishing
There are a few different fish species in the marlin family. Common species targeted by sport anglers are the prized blue marlin of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, white marlin, striped marlin, black marlin and black marlin. Other Species often hooked while fishing for marlin include dorado, albacore and bigeye tuna.

Best places for Marlin Fishing
The best areas to target marlin are those where there is a large change in underwater conditions that create an updraft in the water.
Areas such as northern Australia, New Zealand, Canary Islands, Portugal, Madeira, Azores, Hawaii, Mauritius, Cape Verde, Caribbean, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica or Guatemala produce good conditions for marlin fishing.
