Cod fishing
Cod is a generic name for different species, including among others Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and Pacific cod (Gadus macrocephalus). Cod live in cold northern waters, near wrecks, rocky areas and ridges. They can weigh more than 50kg.

The whiting (Merlangius merlangus merlangus) is a small species of the cod family. It lives in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and also the Mediterranean Sea, North Sea and eastern British coast. Although record whiting catches of up to 70 cm have been recorded, those caught are typically around 25 cm.
