Fishing in Sardinia

Observing the orography of the island you can already guess that the seabed is irregular and rocky. This makes Fishing in Sardinia very varied. The edge is quite close to the coast, especially on the eastern side of the island where the seabed drops quickly to 500 meters deep. In the inland waters we find a panorama of rocks, holes and wrecks - ideal territory for dentex, grouper and amberjack. Bluefin tuna is fished by bait fishing and in spring you can practice spinning to catch them on the surface with artificial lures.

Bottom fishing and bottom trolling are available all year round. For bottom fishing in Sardinia, you anchor in rocky areas and fish with natural bait (pieces of squid, octopus, shrimp, sardine, worm ...) to catch species such as scorpion fish, horse mackerel, pagel, snapper, sea bream, conger eel, brotola, among others.

Fishing for tuna in Sardinia is concentrated in the months of April to August or early September. Fishing is done by trolling or baiting.

In spring you can also fish tuna from 30kg to 60kg spinning. Anglers approach slowly to the big tuna aviaries that form offshore. Once you get close enough to the tuna, you can start casting all kinds of surface lures such as poppers, walkers or jigs in the hope that one of these big predators will attack it.
