Baja California Sur has many Fishing towns such as the famous towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, as well as Loreto and La Paz. What makes this place special is that there is a huge variety of fishing spots. There are large bays such as Sebastian Vizcaino, Magdalena, La Paz, Asuncion, Ballenas, Concepcion and San Carlos. There are also shallow lagoons such as Puerto Escondido, Nopoló, Blandra as well as the San José estuary in Cabo Colorado, the San Ignacio lagoon and the Ojo de Liebre lagoon. All wonderful places for fishing in Baja California.
Fishing bottom fishing in coastal waters such as those of Espiritu Santo Island for example, you can catch yellowtail, dorado, snapper and wahoo.
From August and September offshore in front of Cabo San Lucas and pulling into the Sea of Cortez between Loreto and La Paz, the striped marlin appear. Towards November the striped marlin migrate towards the gulf following the schools of fish. At this time the dorado migrate south, looking for warmer waters. December and January are excellent fishing months for striped marlin.
On the Pacific side of Baja California we find fishing destinations such as Magdalena Bay, formed by two sandy barriers called Magdalenta Island and Margarita Island. In this area, offshore fishing for marlin runs from October to January. At this time there are numerous striped marlin chasing the bait, which is present in abundance.
Summer is the best time for striped marlin fishing on the Pacific side of Baja California Sur. Starting from May through fall, Cabo Falso (near Cabo San Lucas) to the Golden Gate Bank is a spectacular offshore anchorage that attracts fish in abundance.

Fishing licenses can be purchased for one day, one week, one month or one year. Fishing charters in Mexico usually include the fishing license within the total price, but it is worth checking this when booking a Fishing charter.
