Albacore fishing
Albacore tuna (Thunnus alalunga). It has quite large eyes and differs from other tuna because it has a longer and larger pectoral fin (hence its Latin name: alalunga). The largest specimens can reach 1.40 m and weigh up to 40 kg.
Fishing is mainly trolling with artificial lures in temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans and also in the Mediterranean.

How to fish Albacore
Fishing for albacore is done by trolling, natural bait, spinning or jigging. Usually these tuna are first located by trolling using lures such as artificial fish, octopus or vinyls.
Once located, the albacore can be kept close to the Boat by baiting them with pieces of sardine, mackerel or anchovy for example. This is when they are caught spinning or jigging and also with bait.
Can you eat Albacore?
The albacore has very rich and appreciated meats in the kitchen.
Apart from eating canned albacore, it can also be made into sushi, fried or grilled for example. Accompanied with ginger, lime, coriander and an oriental sesame sauce for example, it can be delicious.
