leerfish fishing
The leerfish(Lichia amia) is a very popular species among fishing enthusiasts because of its aggressiveness, strength and speed. Distributed in the Mediterranean and Starting from the coastal waters of West Africa to South Africa. They can measure more than 1.5 meters and weigh more than 25 kg.
The leerfish can be caught with all types of artificial lures for trolling, although they can also be tempted by spinning with walkers and poppers. The best natural baits are the spit and the needle. Mullet and jacks are also irresistible to leerfish.
It is a wary species that will attack a bait with single hooks sooner than one with several treble hooks. As it does not have sharp teeth (it has tiny teeth like the sea bass for example), there is no need to use a wire bass. The leerfish usually attacks the bait by the head, keep this in mind when rigging bass.
