Fishing in Tahiti

Tahiti is a true fishing paradise in the Indo-Pacific. Fishing along the white sandy beaches and wading the bays, you can catchbonefish and bluefin mackerel for example.

On the reefs you can fish for napoleon wrasse, bohar snapper and coral trout, with bait, fly fishing or jigging. Around the reefs, dogtooth tuna, bigeye tuna, GT and grouper can be caught with jigs, poppers and natural bait.

The beautiful scenery has made Tahiti and French Polynesia a popular vacation spot and a great sport fishing destination. Offshore, fishing Tahiti's remote waters, Anglers can enjoy numerous bouts with blue marlin, tuna (including yellowfin, bigeye and dogtooth), wahoo and dorado.

The best months for sport fishing in Tahiti are October through June.

Although you can fish for blue marlin all year round, summer is the peak season for billfish in Tahiti and French Polynesia. Especially from December to June, when the water has warmed up the most.

During the winter (June, July and August) the sea is colder and can get quite rough.

Inshore Fishing and bottom fishing on the reefs can be done all year round. Fishing for fish such as small barracuda, lagoon bonito, jacks, bluefin jacks, snappers and groupers.

Depending on the Boat and the Duration of your Fishing trip, you will pay more or less for the trip. The Price for a 4 hour Fishing trip in Tahiti with a small Boat is $450. A half-day trip with a charter of about 30 feet costs about $900, while an 8-hour Fishing trip will set you back $1400. Sure, there are bigger Boats that are more expensive, but for that you also get more comfort.

What is Included in the Price?

The Price usually includes the Captain, fishing tackle, fuel, bait and lures and licenses. In each ad we indicate if drinks and food are Included.

Once the Booking is made, the Captain will contact you to arrange the meeting point and time of departure. We also recommend that you contact the Captain a couple of days before the trip to confirm the weather forecast.
