Fishing in Murcia is not harassed by the waves of tourists that frequent the Spanish coasts, and therefore the charm of its villages comes to the fore and the visitor can appreciate the multicultural history of this community evident in its streets.
The waters of this area of the Mediterranean are very clear, almost transparent, so fishing in Murcia allows you to clearly observe their bottoms, algae and species that inhabit them. TOP SPECIES
Bluefin Tuna: The Bluefin Tuna needs no introduction, especially among sport fishing enthusiasts. They are the largest of the tuna family and also the strongest. They have an inexhaustible stamina and offer a memorable fight. It is not for nothing that getting a specimen of this species out of the water is considered one of the greatest feats in the world of sport fishing.
Some specimens of Bluefin Tuna can exceed 600 kg. Once they have bitten, they have the tendency to dive into the depths of the water. Their torpedo-shaped body is built for high speeds and they do it justice by reaching speeds of up to 64 kph.
The most common way of fishing for them is by trolling in Murcia. It is trolled with artificial fish designed for speeds between 7 and 10 knots. The most common are Halco, Bonita and Rapala. The best time of the year to catch a Bluefin Tuna in Murcia is in summer. Giant Bluefin Tuna can be found in the Mediterranean waters during the hottest months, from March to September.
Amberjack: The Amberjack or Lemon Fish is one of the most sought after of the species that inhabit Murcia fishing. Fast, voracious fighters, they dive into the depths of the water presenting a fierce fight. Fishing for them is a real challenge as they are rather difficult to find as well as being very suspicious and do not allow themselves to be caught easily. In addition to this, adult specimens can reach large sizes, with more than 2 meters in length and weighing up to 70 kg.
Trolling or drift fishing with natural bait are the best techniques for Amberjack fishing in Murcia. The season for Amberjack is practically all year round.
● Llampuga: The Llampuga is highly coveted not only for its meat, but also for its acrobatic and brilliant jumps which is visually very attractive. It is a very agile fish that tends to jump out of the water several times during combat. These aerial acrobatics add value to its Fishing in Murcia; many Anglers seek this species just to witness this unique spectacle.
The most commonly used method for Fishing in Murcia for Llampuga is trolling with light tackle. But when you know the exact places where you can find specimens of this species, methods such as baitcasting and spinning can bring very good results. The best time for Llampuga in the Costa Cálida is September and October.
● Grouper: Grouper is the classic bottom fish. This species prefers to stay on the seabed and feed on prey that they ambush. They are characterized by their large mouth and mud color, which helps them camouflage with the seabed when hunting. They move with very slow movements and can reach considerable sizes.
When they take the bait, they have a strong tendency to seek refuge in underwater structures and caves. Once they have entered their safety zones, it is practically impossible to remove them. This is why it is essential to remain alert when fishing in Murcia for Grouper: an oversight can mean great frustration for the Angler.

The weather can prevent us from deep fishing very often, but when we can do it, the fishing is assured.
