Horse mackerel fishing
The horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus) is a common species in the eastern Atlantic Ocean from Norway to South Africa and as far as Mozambique in the western Indian Ocean.
They are usually about 20 - 30 cm in size, but the largest specimens can reach 70cm and weigh between 2-3kg.
They are fished with sabiki, small lures and jigs and are also an excellent live bait for e.g. tuna fishing.
