Cubera Snapper fishing

The cubera snapper (Lutjanus cyanopterus) is a highly sought-after game fish that inhabits Atlantic coastal waters from Florida, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. This species can reach a length of 160 cm and weigh up to 50 kg. Not to be confused with the black snapper (Lutjanus novemfasciatus) which inhabits the wrecks and rocky and coral reefs of the Pacific from Mexico to Peru.

This snapper is caught by bottom fishing with bait (fish, squid or shrimp) around reefs and wrecks. Better still is to fish it with poppers on the surface or jigging.
