Fishing in Rota

Rota is located in the north of the large bay of Cádiz. In the center of the bay is Puerto de Santa María and the mouth of the Guadalete River. The bay has a seabed of sand and mud, shallow with hardly any obstacles. Near the coast you can fish for bluefish, sea bass and sea bream for example. Further offshore, the rocky areas offer good bottom fishing with bream, scorpion fish, red scorpion fish, red sea bream, red snapper, horse mackerel ...

Outside the bay, the seabed descends slowly. To practice deep sea fishing in Rota you have to calculate about 20 miles from the port to find deeper waters.

These waters are rich in nutrients and attract large quantities of sardines, anchovies, mackerel and horse mackerel. Pelagic species such as tuna, marlin, wahoo and dorado are fished in the Atlantic Ocean of Cadiz.

Spring
