In the Itapará River region, the sport fishing season starts at the end of September (end of the rainy season), when the waters recede from the igapós (flooded forests) to the natural riverbed, and lasts until the end of March. Our guides will be waiting for you early to start your fishing day! The Itapará Lodge offers exclusive fishing along 60 miles of the Itapará River.
You can choose to fish in the riverbed or in over 100 lakes to explore, all with a wide variety of fish, including the Giant Tucunaré. The canoes are 17 feet long and equipped with two swivel seats, a 25-30 HP motor and an additional electric motor, capable of navigating small streams and narrow lakes.
It is in these places that you will find the hiding places of a great variety of tucunarés, especially the impressive Giant Tucunaré! Fight and fish the majestic Giant Tucunaré in the beautiful Amazon rainforest. The largest Tucunarés in the world are found in specific areas of the Amazon. These fish are true fighters and will test your skills with their impressive acrobatic jumps! The world record was set with a giant Tucunaré of 27 pounds and 37 inches in length.
