Small fish can be caught deep with sardine, worm, pieces of squid or shrimp. Fishing for all types of bottom fish such as sea bream, scorpion fish (scorpion fish), pagel, horse mackerel, conger eel, forkbeards, etc.
Trolling with lures from Black Bart, Blue Water Candy, Rapala, Yo-zuri, Halco, for example - designed to imitate live fish - catches practically all types of pelagic fish. Bonito, dolphinfish (dorado), bluefish, leerfish, leerfish, blue whiting, frigate tuna and frigate tuna are just a few Species. Others prefer bottom trolling with downrigger using natural bait (live or dead) to see if any grouper, dentex or amberjack "come in".
Fishing for tuna in Croatia is usually practiced between April and November. Fishing is done by brumeo with sardine, lacha, mackerel or anchovy. As these are tuna that can reach 100kg to 300kg, fishing is done with 80lb or 120lb heavy tackle (Shimano Tiagra, Penn, Avet, Alutecnos, Daiwa...).
Fishing for tuna is usually done early in the morning because at 4-5am the Anglers raise the sardine nets and it is not necessary to explain that this concentrates a large amount of tuna in the area. This is the best time of the day to catch tuna.
Spring: bottom fishing, tuna spinning, jigging.
Summer: Tuna bait fishing, coastal trolling.
Autumn: Tuna fishing, trolling, coastal trolling.
Winter: bottom trolling, live trolling for dentex, jigging.
