Hello everyone, I'm Matej, captain and owner of Violi fishing charter. I have been fishing since I was 4 years old, when I fell in love with this sport while going with my grandfather and father on freshwater fishing in the rivers and lakes of continental Croatia, where I lived for 17 years. 17 years ago, when I moved to Rovinj, I started to engage in sparefishing, which made fishing with a rod much easier for me because of the benefits of knowing the seabed in the areas where we fish. In the last 10 years of salt water fishing, I have devoted special attention to fishing techniques with spinning, egging techniques for cuttlefish and squid, and troling with live bait and artificial lures. I'm also a trained chef and I've been involved in cooking for most of my life. Besides the sea and fishing, it's another great passion and love. As far as cooking is concerned, of course fish has taken the main place and my professional passion has always been the preparation of fish and fish specialties. I spent many years of my youth working in various restaurants, from small local ones to those in 5-star hotels and fine dining kitchens. It is easy to imagine how interesting combinations and interpretations can be developed from these two areas of interest and passion, wouldn't one agree?

Species like Amberjack, Needlefish, Gurnard, Dentex, Bonito, Scorpionfish, European Seabass, Squid, Bigeye Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Gilt-head (Seabream), and more inhabit these waters, depending on conditions. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.
Families who love fishing together will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Don't forget to bring snacks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Your boat for the day is a 20' Beneteau Antares 600 HB sportfishing vessel for 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is alowed, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so you can drive right over and come aboard without any hassle! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
It's always wise to bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
The click of a button is the only thing keeping you from a great day on the water with Violi Fishing!
