Jigging
Jigging is a fishing technique whereby fishing is done vertically: a metal lure is dropped to a desired depth (usually to the bottom) and then the jig is retrieved with rhythmic movements to attract the attention of the predator.
Equipment needed for Jigging
Jigging can be done with either fixed or spinning reels. Braided lines are used because they have less elasticity. Jigging rods are shorter (less leverage and less tiring) and must allow you to work the jig well. There are endless jigs of all colors and sizes such as long blades, wider jigs for slow jigging, jigs with centered weights, more on the tail or more on the head to have different movements, inchiku, etc.
Species caught with Jigging
The Species that can be fished by jigging are very varied. In salt water we can fish for grouper, amberjack (amberjack or amberjack), dentex, snapper, amberjack, GT, tuna and a long etcetera. In fresh water we fish for black bass, pike-perch, pike or trout with this fishing technique.
