Inshore and bottom fishing in Mallorca

The port of Pollença is located in the bay of Pollença which stands out for its extreme beauty and crystal clear waters. With depths of up to 40 meters, the bay lends itself to bottom fishing and coastal trolling. The cape in the northern part of the bay is the famous Cap Formentor. Around the cape, the seabed drops sharply and reaches 50-60 meters deep just offshore. This area of Cap Formentor is excellent jigging fishing territory for dentex, amberjack and scorpion fish.
The edge is really close to the coast. This means that the first deep-sea fishing areas are already 30 minutes away from the port of Pollença.
Pollença enjoys a mild climate. Fishing, trolling, spinning and jigging are available practically all year round. Species such as amberjack, dentex, jack mackerel, grouper, scorpion fish and pagel can be fished in Pollença from January to December.
Towards the end of August the dolphinfish appear together with frigate tuna, frigate tuna and bluefin tuna in the coastal waters of Pollença. They usually stay until the beginning of November. These months are excellent for inshore fishing with light tackle.
Fishing for tuna in Pollença can be done all year round, but the best months by far are from April to October. Fishing can be done by trolling or baiting. At the end of June the tuna disappear to spawn and it is difficult to fish for them.
Apart from fishing in Pollença, you can also enjoy the area by biking or mountain biking. Do not miss the wine fair that is usually held in April in the Claustre del Convent de Sant Domingo.
The bay of Pollença stands out for its beauty and crystal clear waters, an environment that enchants all those who visit and want to enjoy the sea. It is worth going snorkeling or diving in these waters, in Cala Figuera, Cala Murta or Cala Formentor.
Enjoy the gastronomic culture of Pollença and taste the typical sausages such as sobrassada, camaiot and butifarró. Taste dishes such as squid with sobrassada, arrós brut, coques de trempó, frito de matanza or freixura, and fish and seafood dishes such as els molls, cap-roig, denton, llampuga, llobarro or the popular fish rice, and lobster stew.

The Fishing license is the administrative document nominal, individual and non-transferable, mandatory, from the age of 14, for the practice of recreational fishing from land (inland and outside waters) or from floating devices such as canoes, kayaks, pedal boats and the like (only in inland waters). It can be obtained on the website of the Gobern de les Illes Balears:
>> Obtain Recreational Surface Fishing License.
Remember that Fishing charters in Pollença usually already have a collective fishing license so you don't need to buy one if you are going to charter a boat.
