Fishing in Calheta with Gavito Fishing

Operating out of Calheta Marina on the south coast of Madeira, the highly experienced crew of the Gavito is here to give you a fantastic nautical adventure. Join Captain Anders and Co-Captain David, as they take you fishing at some of the best spots in Madeira.

Their boat, Gavito, a Rodman 760 flybridge powered by two FNM 135hp engines, has been brought up to all modern standards and is constantly being upgraded in terms of fishing ability, comfort, technology, and safety. As for the fishing equipment, Gavito is loaded with the best rods and reels from Alutecnos, Penn, and Daiwa (electrical). Backing, topshots, swivels, and leaders are replaced on a regular basis.

Two experienced captains are on board to help you out with everything. Tackle, bait, and lures are all included in the trip price. Water, soft drinks, and beer are complimentary.

Gavito Fishing is fully licensed by the Portuguese Tourist Office and fully insured for all risks. The boat is professionally maintained by qualified engineers on a regular basis.

Gavito Fishing charters was founded in 2012 and is owned and operated by Captain Anders Ekstrand. Gavito Fishing has developed to one of the most successful and appreciated charter boats in Madeira with hundreds of happy clients.

Captain Anders has more than 40 years of fishing experience ranging from fly fishing in the Nordics to Big Game fishing in Florida, Mexico and the coasts of Africa. 

First Mate David Fraga joined the company in 2021. David is born on the island and has been fishing the waters of Madeira for more than 30 years, giving him extensive knowledge of how and where to fish in Madeira.
