Sheepshead fishing
The sheepshead (Archosargus probatocephalus) is a round gray silvery fish with dark bars on the side. They are found in coastal waters along the western Atlantic, from Nova Scotia to Brazil. Southwest Florida is one of the best places to catch this species.
They feed on moluscs and crustaceans in rocky bottoms or places with obstructions, jetties, etc. The best baits to target these fish are crab, shrimp, clams and mussles.
Record sheepshead up to 30 in (76 cm) and 15lb (6.8 kg) have been caught.
