Hogfish fishing

The hogfish (Lachnolaimus maximus) is a species found around reefs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. They mainly feed on crustaceans. Hogfish can grow to a maximum of 91 cm (36 in) in total length and about 11 kg (24 lb).

Hogfish have three or four long dorsal spines. Its elongated pig-like snout is used to graze for crustaceans that are buried beneath the sand.

Hogfish are a delicacy. Many chefs believe their meat has better texture and flavour than grouper or mahi.
